So The Stay recently came to UNE. They are a band from Boston, MA (which kind of makes them localish, if your from New England!). Their live performance was really good, even for a small crowd like we have here at UNE. Although I didn't have a camcorder or a camera with me at the time (I know! such a tradegy!) It wasn't my fault though, I wasn't even by my dorm when I heard they were playing, I was walking back from one of the parking lots, and one of my friends texted me telling me they were playing, so I walked over to The Hang with some friends I was with and we caught some of the show (about half, maybe longer). The band was really friendly and they were hilarious being up on stage and interacting with each other and the audience, if the venue was in some club or some small venue it would have been awesome, with the energy contained in such a space. The Stay are a band that kind of remind me of Boys Like Girls, All Time Low, putting them in a Punk-Pop, Punk-Alternative genre, which isn't completely what I'd throw on as my favorite track during the day, but it's good listening, specially with some of the points and experiences they are relating to in their music. Their newest album Games With Girls sounds pretty good, was listening to a few songs while typing this up haha. I also find it funny that the entire band (all four of them, Steve, Liam, Anthony, and Anthony) have Twitter accounts, and keep themselves updated with whomever cares to know about their lives. This Twitter epidemic is almost as big as Swine Flu (j/k). Their update comments are pretty funny, definitily a humorous life loving bunch these guys are. I didn't buy one of their CD's at the show (didn't have a need quite to). But their CD is on I-Tunes if you want to check them out. Or their myspace at http://www.myspace.com/stayrock Awaiting now for the next band to play at UNE, should prove interesting whomever it is. Last week while I was eating lunch, in celebration and in representation of the food drive UNE was hosting, we had a singer during Lunch on Thursday. She was really good, singing folk/songs of the heart. I don't quite remember her name but I am pretty sure she was local and from Maine. She definitely brightened my day while enjoying lunch. The only downside was that a lot of people were talking in the sitting area while she was playing. I understand that it was lunchtime conversation but I am pretty sure the music she was playing and that whole scenario was 95% more important than almost every conversation that was going on in the room, some people have no acknolwedgement of an opportunity. |
