6-Across the road

So yesterday I was out walking around (had over an hour to kill before class), and I decided to go walk around the area where the new dorm is being built this year (should be ready by next fall).

As you can see, nothing has been built yet but construction is well on it's way with the clear cutting of the area (Biddeford campus has nowhere else it can expand without utilizing some of the forest that is across of Pool St, which is unfortunate). The area was covered with trees previously, in a sort of swamp/forestry manner, a great place for mosquitoes (I did get bit one or twice while walking around the muddy areas).

The new dorm is expected to be completed by next fall semester in 2010. It's going to be varied suite rooms, with rooms simular to east, west, and south (suites composed of four singles, two doubles, or two singles and a double, etc). The school also plans on making a walkway underneath Pool St, along with a fountain and some gardens. Across the street in the same area they also plan on building a fitness center right by the new dorm.

I walked by this area last week, and in the middle of the clearing there was this one tall tree standing out, and I was hoping they were planing on keeping it for the new dorm building...

But the tree got cut down sadly.

On a plus side the animals still seem to be throughout the area.

I will keep updates on the buildings progress perhaps as time goes on, but there isn't even any foundation layed yet, so it will be a long time before theres any significant changes. This building is apart of the master blueprint that UNE has been approved for by the city of Biddeford, meaning more buildings are going to be built as time goes on.

And fall time seems to be coming along nicely, it's definitily getting a bit colder (especially at night). Earlier today my day started off with semi warm temps, then in the mid afternoon we had a huge gusty rainstorm for about an hour, then for the rest of today it's just been windy with a chill. Got to love the changing weather in Maine.
