So yesterday afternoon there wasn't too much going on. I slept over at a friends suite the night before because my roommate and his gf had a bunch of visitors up, so we had them all sleep in our room (works out since I had friends visiting last night). But anyways, when I woke up in my friend Chris's suite I thought he wasn't there because he was supposed to have woken up and gone skiing, but turns out he didn't. So after waking and leaving, I get a phone call from him to go to brunch, so we went over to Decary to dine. At brunch with Chris, and Ethan (my neighbor and friend), and Zach (another friend), we were trying to figure out what we were going to do for the day. Well the original plan that we came up with was to go cross country skiing. However after we went and changed Ethans flat tire on his car, and called the skiing place (a farm not too far away), we found out the trails weren't too good at the moment (didn't surprise me, theres little snow left here on the coast, just ice). So we had to ditch that plan. What we ended up doing instead was something just as good or even better. Ethan, Chris, and I drove further into Biddeford Pool and went to the Bird Sanctuary that is at the end of the pool by the golf course. The Bird Sanc is a cool location with trails along the rocks over the ocean, with different thickets and trees that tons of coastal birds nest in. The place has absolutely fantastic sights, and being able to travel from coastal rocks, to forest paths, to open fields in such a small area is great. I really wasn't planning on going to the bird sanc when we went, because we were down at the beach kicking a soccer ball around before we left, so I didn't have a chance to grab my camera before we went, so I apologize for the lack of awesome photos, but there will be more to come. Especially when it starts warming up (after we get through the Tundra of February in Maine) we will be going back to bird sanc much more often. Another cool thing about that area, is while standing on the beach, you can see the lighthouse on the island by campus pretty well, it's a great sight. |
