Since I did the interview I met a lot of Mexican students which was great. They invited me and some other international students to their friend’s 18th birthday party. It was so much fun because I got to practice my Spanish and the Mexican students got to practices their English. They were very eager to speak English with all of us. They made us speak Spanish to them and they responded in English so that we both got to practice. This week was very eventful lots of fiestas. I went to Lorena’s birthday party a Mexican student I had met from the interview. I went to dinner for my Aussie girl Emily’s birthday. Then we went to a house warming party for the international students from France and Finland. They had moved into a brand new apartment with a roof top terrace and a gorgeous view of Cuernavaca. They are the first people to live in this place and it’s magnificent and they got a great price for the place. Emma my Finish friend that lives there says she pays 500 Euros to live in her place in Finland and her apartment in Mexico is only 100 Euros. On Friday it was my youngest host sister’s 18th birthday so Allie (my roommate) and I went out with our host sisters and their friends to the Grand hotel. On Saturday we threw a party for Emily we got her a cheesecake and two piñatas. It was a grand event that included both Mexican students and international students. It’s surprising how close you get to people in less than a month. Sunday we relaxed and went to the Centro the down town area. We went to the gardens behind the cathedral and looked around. It was a lot of fun and extremely relaxing. Everyone was out with their family. They had canoes you could take across the pond. I’ve been getting a little bold and eating for from street vendors. I think its ok I’ve been here for almost a month and I’ve got a pretty strong stomach. I got a taco from a vendor and it was fantastic and I survived. This was an overall exciting week and I’m beginning to think I never want to leave. |
