1-Study Abroad

Hiya All!

Well, I am in a very excited mood and have been for a few days! Why you ask?! Well, let me tell you. ^^ Wednesday was the Study Abroad Fair, where the school had their various study abroad options and classes with traveling components on display. I arrived as soon as it started and was excited to see how many options were available! So, I would like to take some time to tell you what caught my eye and hopefully interest you in the possibility of studying abroad.

The first table I visited was that of Seamester.  This is an oceanography, marine science, environental and other interest program. Students "spend a semester at sea" are have the chance to not only learn from their courses, but also how to sail and have the chance for hands on and personal experiences over the semester. As someone who has lived at sea for a month I knew that I would love this experience! If you have similar experience or just think it is interesting click here.

The second two I drifted past were for classes on campus with a travelling component. The first is an environmental class that will later take a trip to Kenya. It is for junior and senior students, but may be open to sophmores depending on how many students sign up. Unfortunately, I didn't get any more information than that, but if you are interested look out for it at the end of this semester. The second is a Irish history class, where you will go to Ireland at the end of the semseter. (Duh!) The class will meet once a week and will be taught by Eric Zuelow. (Woot! ^^) If you would like more information click here.

And finally my favorite!!! Australearn. ^^ I have wanted to go to Australia for years and now I have a chance. Making a beeline to the table I struck up a conversation with the two representitives and began making plans and sharing ideas. After about 45 minutes we had created a plan for my junior year and had me so excited that I called and texted all of my close friends and family to tell them about it. So, enough about me, more about the progam. It is a study abroad program that is also connected to other programs that travel to New Zealand, Fiji, Asia and Europe. They offer a variety of subjects for people wanting to go into business, science, psychology....name it and they pretty much have it! They have single semester, full year and internships available. I plan on going to a full year and interning during their long break. Their are a variety of options and possible choices! Click here for more information on Australearn.

So, if you want to get away from New England then stop by the Study Abroad offices and contact your academic advisor to discuss your options. Even if you think it isn't possible or it may not work out just think to yourself, "All I can do is try." I mean, when are you going to get a chance to run off to another country with all of our students loans >.>

I hope everyone has a great Columbus Day weekend. Take some time to relax as well as time to study!
Merry Meet and Farewell for now!!!
