Hey everyone and welcome to the start of another great school year!
I have a little while before I have to head off to class, so I thought that I would put up a quick blog to introduce myself to all of you readers!
My name is Alyssa, I am 19 years old and am in my second year here at UNE in the occupational therapy program. I am from Salem, NH (not the witch town). If anyone has heard of Canobie Lake Park, I live right around the corner from there.
On campus, I try to stay very involved. This year, I am an RA on Assisi 3rd, Co-Managing and Features Editor for our school newspaper (the Nor'easter News), PR Rep for Hall Council, obviously a campus blogger and a campus tour guide. In addition to the clubs/organizations and work study jobs, if you can believe it, I actually manage to go to class! This semester I am taking Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology (plus the lab); Sociocultural Context of Human Development; Human Traditions: Beginning to Renaissance Literature; and Intro to Occupational Therapy. Thus far I am really enjoying my classes. AP&P is pretty tough, but that was to be expected. It just means I'll have to push myself a little bit harder to do well. My favorite class right now is a toss up between Intro to OT and Human Development. My professors for both classes are really great. They are extremely knowledgeable, have great personalities, and keep things light but interesting during class. Human development is one of my longer classes, but because I enjoy the material so much, it seems to go by the fastest.
This past weekend, one of the clubs on campus (APB), put on their annual Big, Big Event. This year there was a wiffleball tournament, water gun games, a concert on the River Lot parking lot, synthetic ice for ice skating, sand volleyball tournament, candy apples, and pumpkin decorating and the most delicious BBQ dinner I have ever had at this school. After the Big, Big Event, my friends and I took the bus downtown to Target- one of our favorite things to do on the weekend. I'm pretty sure that the majority of my income goes directly to Target, maybe I should deposit all of my checks there instead of in my own bank account. Anyways, I have a lot to do today (go to class, give a tour, staff a Hall Council event and watch Grey's Anatomy), so I will leave you with a few of the pictures that I took at the Big, Big Event!
