Hey guys!
So in this past week I have been pretty busy with exams and assignments. I had my first exam in AP&P last Tuesday and I just finished my first Human Development exam. My AP&P exam was pretty brutal. I'll find out how I did tomorrow morning. In class on Thursday morning my professor told us that some of us may as well have taken the exam without even reading the questions and just choosing random answers, so that didn't really make me feel to good about getting my grade. We'll see. I'll expect the worse and hopefully be surprised I guess. As for the Human Development exam, we had to know chapters 1-4 in our book on developmental theories, genetics, and prenatal development. I studied for a good part of this weekend, so I felt pretty comfortable two hours before class, but then some of my friends who have the same class and teacher the hour before told me that it was really hard, so then I went in expecting to do terribly. I studied until the last possible minute before she handed out the exam, and it didn't end up being nearly as bad as I had been anticipating. I got through the multiple choice without too much difficulty and then finished up the short answers feeling pretty good about myself. Let's hope the confidence is backed up by the grade when I get it back on Wednesday...
Now for things more exciting than exams. I am really excited because the first issue of our newspaper just came out last Wednesday, and it came out really well. There were still a few typos, but it was the first issue. It will definitely get better. As an incentive to write for the paper this year, the Nor'easter News staff is "paying" the writers to publish their stories. For every article you write you get five or ten dollars added to your flex dollars account. If you are an editor, you get a stipend at the end of the semester, which is pretty generous. Speaking of articles, I need to get started on my next one...
This weekend, my friend Kayleigh had her friend come down to visit us. On Friday we went to Fortunes Rocks Beach, which (for those of you who don't know) is a beach about five minutes down the road from UNE. A lot of seniors get beach houses down there when they are able to move off campus. We went to get a sea shell for Kayleigh to draw in her art class and then headed up to the mall in Portland. We spent a good couple of hours there, had dinner and then headed back to school. On Saturday, my RA staff had our first area-wide program which was a huge kickball tournament. Since the weather wasn't very nice, it was held in the gym in the campus center. The tournament ended up being quite a hit. A lot of people showed up and got really into it. Plus, I got to hang out with my floor and they are all a lot of fun. We ended up losing, but it was still a good time overall. Saturday night I stayed in to study a bit for my Human Development exam while my friends went to see Zombieland. (I don't do well with scary movies, so I was kind of glad to have an excuse not to go.) I'm pretty sure I ended up watching Ratatouille instead anyways. Yesterday we had our first round of Hall Olympics- Floaty Relays. The participants (which there were very few of) had to take a floaty and swim out to a marker in the Saco River, go around it an come back, so that the next team mate could go out. It wasn't exactly warm out either so nobody had worn a bathing suit and everyone was swimming in eans or sweatpants. The team from Freddy Hall ended up winning, Champlain came in second, I think Avila came in third, and Siena came in fourth. Everyone said the water was freezing so I give props to anyone who was brave enough to go in.
That's pretty much all that's going on right now, so I'm gonna get studying for my next AP&P exam! |
